There’s a point every spring where the world suddenly feels alive again.

Not neatly.
Not all at once.

Just… little signs.

The smell of cut grass drifting through an open window. Tiny flowers pushing through cracks in walls like they own the place. Birds screaming absolute nonsense at four in the bloody morning because apparently sleep is no longer important now the sun exists again.

That’s Pink Moon season.

The Pink Moon rises in April, right when spring starts showing off properly. And despite the name, it usually isn’t actually pink. Which honestly feels very British somehow. We give things dramatic names and then reveal them under thick cloud while everybody stands outside disappointed in a dressing gown.

The name comes from wild pink phlox flowers that bloom around this time of year, carpeting the ground in soft colour as winter finally loses its grip.

And spiritually? This moon feels exactly like that.

Gentle growth.
Softness returning.
Things beginning to bloom after a long, difficult season.

I always think the Pink Moon feels emotionally tender compared to some of the fiercer moons.

Not weak.
Just softer around the edges.

After the heaviness of winter and the strange restless energy of early spring, the Pink Moon arrives carrying warmth, connection, and possibility. It’s a moon for opening windows. For fresh air. For remembering you are allowed joy again.

This is the moon that encourages growth without shouting at you about “becoming your highest self” every five minutes.

Honestly, thank God for that.

The Pink Moon reminds us that growth often happens quietly.

Like herbs slowly returning in the garden.
Like confidence rebuilding after burnout.
Like laughing properly again after a rough few months.

This moon is deeply connected to love, but not just romantic love.

The internet tends to hear “love magic” and immediately lose its bloody mind, but the Pink Moon feels much broader than that to me.

It’s about affection.
Care.
Connection.
Tenderness.
The things that help us grow properly.

Sometimes that means romance.
Sometimes it means friendship.
Sometimes it means finally speaking to yourself like you’re a human being instead of a failing customer service department.

And honestly, that kind of self-love magic is often harder than any spell.

One of my favourite things to do during the Pink Moon is simply spend time outside.

Nothing elaborate.

Just sitting in the garden with a mug of tea while the evening cools down and everything smells faintly damp and green. Lancashire spring has a particular feeling to it. Mossy walls. Wet soil warming in weak sunlight. Blossom trying its best while the weather still behaves like it’s February half the time.

The Pink Moon feels strongest there somehow.

Not in perfect aesthetic ritual spaces.
Just in ordinary spring life.

Watching bees return.
Hearing blackbirds singing.
Noticing the first proper warm evening where nobody rushes back inside immediately.

That is magic too.

If you do want to work ritualistically with this moon, the energy suits anything involving nurturing and gentle intention-setting beautifully.

I love simple plant magic during the Pink Moon.

Not because I’m suddenly transforming into some impossibly graceful woodland maiden who glides around barefoot planting flowers in linen sleeves. Absolutely not. I’m usually in muddy leggings shouting at slugs while balancing a mug of tea somewhere unsafe.

But planting something during this moon feels powerful.

A pot of herbs.
Wildflowers.
Seeds in a windowsill tray.

As you press seeds into soil, think about what in your own life needs nurturing right now.

Not forcing.
Not controlling.
Just caring for something steadily enough that it can grow.

The Pink Moon teaches patience like that.

This moon is also beautiful for self-love work, though I think people often misunderstand what self-love actually looks like.

It isn’t always luxurious baths and buying yourself expensive crystals.

Sometimes self-love is:

  • resting when you’re exhausted
  • setting boundaries
  • feeding yourself properly
  • speaking kindly to your own reflection
  • admitting you deserve softness too

One of the gentlest rituals for this moon involves nothing more complicated than a candle, a mirror, and honesty.

Light a pink or white candle and sit quietly for a few minutes.

Look at yourself properly.

Not critically.
Not hunting for flaws.

Just as a person who has survived things.

Then say something simple like:

“I deserve kindness too.
I deserve growth.
I deserve gentle things.”

And yes, the first time you do it you may feel like a complete twat.

That’s normal.

Keep going anyway.

The Pink Moon is also wonderful for dream work and creativity.

Ideas often feel more alive during this phase. Emotions become clearer. Inspiration starts returning after winter stagnation.

I notice it particularly with writing.

Everything feels less forced somehow. Softer. More open. Like the creative part of your brain has finally unclenched after months of darkness and survival mode.

If you’re working on something creative, this moon is excellent for nurturing it quietly rather than demanding perfection immediately.

Tiny progress still counts.

Actually, tiny progress is often how the strongest things grow.

One thing I really love about the Pink Moon is that it doesn’t demand dramatic transformation.

It simply invites blooming.

And blooming takes time.

No flower on Earth bursts open overnight because somebody shouted “manifest harder” at it under moonlight.

Growth happens gradually.
Tenderly.
In layers.

The Pink Moon understands that.

So if you’ve been feeling softer lately…
more emotional…
more hopeful…
more aware of what your heart actually needs…

you’re probably feeling this moon already.

Open the windows.
Plant something small.
Light the candle.
Write down what you want to grow.

And remember:
you do not need to bloom all at once to still be growing beautifully.
