Our email tarot readings are a quieter alternative.
You send us your question in your own time. We personally shuffle and draw the cards here in Lancaster, then write your reading and send it to you with an image of the cards we’ve drawn.
There’s no live appointment to attend and no pressure to make decisions on the spot. Your reading arrives in writing, so you can sit with it, come back to it later and take from it whatever feels useful to you.

Live readings suit some people beautifully. They aren’t right for everyone.
An email tarot reading gives you space.
You don’t have to arrange your day around an appointment. You don’t have to sit on a video call. You don’t need to formulate the perfect follow-up question while somebody is waiting for you to speak.
For some people, putting a question into writing is simply easier.
A written reading also gives you something that a conversation doesn’t: the opportunity to go back and read it again.
Something that doesn’t seem particularly important on the first read may stand out later. You can take your time, think about the cards and decide for yourself what resonates with your situation.
What Can We Ask the Tarot?
You don’t need to know anything about tarot to have a reading, and there isn’t a secret formula for asking the “right” question.
You might want guidance around:
- love and relationships
- work or career
- a decision you’re struggling with
- a situation that feels stuck
- personal growth
- changing circumstances
- understanding what may be influencing a situation
- what you might need to pay more attention to
- a general question about where you are right now
We generally find that open questions give tarot more room to be useful than trying to force every situation into a simple yes or no.
Instead of only asking “Will this happen?”, for example, we might explore “What do I need to understand about this situation?” or “What should I consider as I decide what to do next?”
Don’t worry if you’re unsure how to word your question. We can work with that.
What We Won’t Pretend Tarot Can Do

Tarot can be a wonderful tool for reflection, insight and exploring a situation from another perspective.
It isn’t an excuse for us to pretend we know things we don’t.
We won’t promise that the cards can tell you exactly what another person is thinking, guarantee a particular future, diagnose a medical condition or replace professional medical, legal or financial advice.
We also don’t offer mediumship or claim to communicate with people who have died.
If you send us a question that we genuinely don’t believe we can answer responsibly through tarot, we’ll tell you rather than inventing an answer — and we won’t charge you for a reading we can’t provide.
We’d much rather lose a sale than sell you certainty we don’t have.

We’re Lancs Green Witch, a small independent business based in Lancaster, and Selene is the witch behind your reading.
Our approach draws on a personal relationship with tarot, green witchcraft and seasonal practice, as well as the collection of free witchy resources we’ve built here on the website.
When you order a reading, your cards are physically shuffled and drawn for you.
The interpretation you receive is written around your cards and your question. It isn’t a pre-written meaning pasted from a database, and it isn’t generated by pressing a “draw my card” button.
Every paid reading also helps support Lancs Green Witch and allows us to continue creating the free witchcraft, tarot, herbal and seasonal resources available across the site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is an email tarot reading a real tarot reading?
Yes. The difference is how you receive it, not how the cards are drawn.
We use a physical tarot deck, shuffle and draw the cards for your question and interpret the resulting reading personally. Instead of giving you the interpretation during a live appointment, we write it down and send it to you.
Do I need to be available at a particular time?
No.
That’s one of the main advantages of a written tarot reading. You send your question and we complete the reading separately. There is no phone, video or live-chat appointment to arrange.
Will I see the cards you drew?
Yes. Your reading includes an image of the cards drawn for you.
I’ve never had a tarot reading before. Which should I choose?
If you have a fairly straightforward question or simply want to experience a personal tarot reading for the first time, the £5 one-card reading is a lovely place to start.
If your question needs more context, choose the £12 three-card reading.
For complicated situations or something you want to explore properly, the £25 in-depth reading gives us much more room
Can I ask about love or relationships?
Absolutely. Relationship questions are common.
Where possible, though, we prefer to focus the reading on your relationship with the situation, what the cards suggest you should consider and what may help you move forward, rather than claiming tarot gives us secret access to somebody else’s thoughts.
Not in the slightest.
You don’t need to know your Cups from your Pentacles. That’s our department.
Can you tell me exactly what will happen?
We don’t sell tarot as guaranteed fortune-telling.
Cards can suggest themes, possibilities, influences and directions, but people make choices and circumstances change. We would rather give you a thoughtful and useful reading than pretend the future is fixed.
