A practical tool for loose incense
These Charcoal and Resin Tongs help you handle charcoal tablets and loose incense without placing your fingers close to the heat.
Use them to grip a charcoal disc while lighting it, transfer it safely into your cauldron or incense burner, and add small pieces of resin once the tablet is alight.
At approximately 13cm long, they provide useful distance from the heat while remaining compact enough to store with your other incense supplies.

The narrow arms and open gripping ends make the tongs suitable for:
Holding charcoal tablets while lighting them

A large brass-toned ring and smaller hanging ring are attached by a short chain, allowing the tongs to be hung from a hook or kept with your burner between rituals.
How to use your charcoal tongs
Grip the edge of an unlit charcoal tablet firmly between the ends of the tongs.
Hold the tablet away from your face, body and flammable materials while carefully lighting one edge. Charcoal tablets may begin to spark as they ignite.
Once lit, place the tablet securely onto a generous layer of sand inside a suitable heat-resistant incense burner or cauldron.
Allow the tablet to finish sparking and begin turning pale grey before adding resin. Use the tongs to place only a small amount of resin onto the hot charcoal at a time.

Ensure the charcoal is held securely before lighting or moving it. Do not grip a lit tablet with your fingers.
The tongs may become hot during use. Hold them only by the ring end, avoid prolonged contact with hot charcoal and allow them to cool completely before touching the arms or putting them away.
Always burn charcoal in a suitable heat-resistant burner containing sand, placed on a stable, non-flammable surface.
Charcoal produces smoke and carbon monoxide. Use only in a well-ventilated area and never leave burning or smouldering charcoal unattended. Keep away from children and animals.
